JAIPUR (HAMARA WATAN) Important work is being done to reduce the effects of climate change and clean and pollution-free environment through tree plantation outside the forest areas in the state under “Tree Outside Forest in Rajasthan”.
Shikhar Agarwal, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Forest, Environment and Climate Change and Chairman, Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board, said that under the scheme, more than 50 lakh saplings have been distributed so far and trees have been planted in all the districts of the state outside the traditional forests.
The work of distribution and planting of plants is being done on a large scale. It is notable that the TOFR scheme was announced by the Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot under the budget 2023-24.
Providing additional information, Shikhar Agarwal said that under the TOFR scheme, plantation work is being done on a large scale in the state with the cooperation of various departments, organizations and citizens. He said that this scheme would play an important role in controlling pollution in the state and would prove a milestone in making people aware of climate change and better environment. He further added that under the scheme, common people can plant saplings at their homes and fields along with Gochar, Oran, pastures, and various urban areas outside the forest area.
Agarwal said that in view of the tendency of departments, institutions etc. to take saplings in large quantity under the TOFR scheme, it was decided by the state government to provide saplings at concessional rates. Under which, if more than 50 thousand and up to 2 lakh saplings are taken, then 50 percent discount of the fixed rate for plants and 75 percent discount of the fixed rate is being given for taking more than 2 lakh saplings.
He said that this scheme would prove to be a unique effort in terms of increasing the total tree cover of the state and realizing the concept of clean and pollution free environment.Information about species and availability of plants can be access through online medium.
For purchasing of saplings by departments, institutions and general public under Forest Department’s ambitious scheme “Tree Outside Forest in Rajasthan” the demand for plants can be submitted along with nursery wise and species wise availability of plants at department’s website http://aarnayak.forest.rajasthan.gov.in/ or http://fmdss.forest.rajasthan.gov.in/. It is worth mentioning that the work of preparing plants of different species for paid distribution in the nurseries of all the districts is being done by the department.
