JAIPUR (HAMARA WATAN) AICTE Approved 3 Days-Faculty Development Program on Universal Human Values hosted by the University of Engineering and Management (UEM), Jaipur, commenced with an inaugural session on 13 July, 2023. The FDP aims to enhance the teaching skills and professional development of faculty members to ensure quality education at UEM, Jaipur. The inaugural session began with the invocation of Goddess Saraswati. Therafter, the distinguished guests of NCCIP AICTE Team – Dr Navin Kumar Sharma (Resource Person), Dr Piyush Sharma ((Co-Facilitator), Dr VijayPal Singh (Observer) were felicitated by UEM Jaipur dignitaries. On this occasion Welcome address was delivered by the Vice-Chancellor (VC), Registrar, and Dean, who set the tone for the three-day event.
The Vice-Chancellor,Prof. (Dr) Biswajoy Chatterjee, began the inaugural address by extending a warm welcome to all participants and expressing his gratitude for their presence. He emphasized the importance of continuous professional development in academia and acknowledged the significant role faculty members play in shaping the future of students. The VC highlighted the FDP’s objectives, which include upgrading pedagogical techniques, fostering research and innovation, and creating an environment conducive to holistic development.
The Registrar, Prof. (Dr) Pradeep Kumar Sharma, addressed the gathering by appreciating the initiative taken by UEM to organize the Faculty Development Programme. He emphasized the need for faculty members to keep abreast of the latest advancements in their respective fields and adapt to changing educational paradigms. The Registrar encouraged participants to actively engage in the FDP’s activities, share experiences, and network with colleagues to foster a collaborative learning environment.
The Dean, Prof. (Dr) Aniruddha Mukherjee, focused his address on the specific objectives of the FDP. He stressed the importance of Human Values in the life of a person and equipping faculty members with the necessary skills to effectively use high morale in the classroom. The Dean emphasized the significance of student-centric teaching approaches and encouraged faculty members to explore innovative pedagogies that promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
The inaugural session of the Faculty Development Programme at UEM, Jaipur, set a positive tone for the three-day event. The esteemed speakers, including the Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, and Dean, highlighted the importance of faculty development in improving the quality of education. The FDP’s objectives, including the methods for inculcating universal human values in students, the role of universal human values in a just and equitable society, the challenges to universal human values in the 21st century, the ways to overcome the challenges to universal human values, upgrading pedagogical skills, fostering research and innovation, and integrating technology, reflect UEM’s commitment to providing a transformative learning experience. The program promises to equip faculty members with the necessary human values in their teaching careers and contribute to the overall growth of the university.
Overall, the inaugural session successfully conveyed the significance of faculty development and set the stage for an engaging and enlightening three-day Faculty Development Programme. More than 50 Faculty Members are participating in this FDP. The FDP is organized by Department of Humanities and coordinated by Prof. (Dr) Mukesh Yadav and Dr Snehlata Dhaka. The masters of ceremonies were Prof. Sanchari Basak and Prof. Shivani Saini.
